Located on the east coast of Scotland, Aberdeen is well established as Scotland’s third largest city and is enjoying a sustained period of significant investment in transport links, with the airport undergoing a full redevelopment, and the recently completed Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route improving links between the South and North of the city.
With a population of nearly half a million in the city and surrounding area, as well as prestigious seats of learning such as Aberdeen and Robert Gordon Universities – that attract students from across the globe - Aberdeen offers an educated and specialised workforce with at least half educated to degree level or above.
A City of Power
Long known as the off-shore oil capital of Europe, and hence playing home to the energy giants - such as BP, Shell, Wood, Total, Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, Chrysaor, and Halliburton - the city is increasingly becoming a key hub for new, renewable energy businesses as well as service and information focussed companies. Digital connectivity is a priority for the region, with Aberdeen set to be the first Gigabit Scottish city, offering lightning-fast broadband to businesses and residents alike.
Aberdeen is a global hub of maritime excellence, and 75% of the worlds subsea engineering capability is based here. Investment in the harbour area reinforces Aberdeen as an important location for the fishing industry, but has also increased its relevance to the tourism industry with facilities that allow docking of the world’s largest cruise ships, allowing passengers to enjoy all that this vibrant city has to offer.
